Common questions

Quick answers about this lesson's grammar and vocabulary.

How do you form superlatives in French?

Definite article + plus + adjective + de/au: le plus rapide au monde = 'the fastest in the world'. La plus belle = 'the most beautiful'.

Au monde vs dans le monde?

Both 'in the world'. Au monde is slightly more formal/poetic. Le plus rapide au monde = 'the fastest in the world'.

What is the cheetah in French?

Le guépard. Note: in the lesson, le léopard (leopard) is given, but the actual fastest land animal is le guépard.
