Common questions

Quick answers about this lesson's grammar and vocabulary.

How do you ask 'what's your name?' in Greek?

Πώς σε λένε; (informal) — literally 'how do they call you?'. Or: Ποιο είναι το όνομά σου; = 'what is your name?'.

Γεια σου vs Γεια σας?

Γεια σου = hi (one person, informal). Γεια σας = hi (multiple people OR formal). Both also mean 'goodbye'.

What does εσένα; mean?

'You?' / 'and you?' — accusative form of εσύ. Casual return question after being asked something.
