Common questions

Quick answers about this lesson's grammar and vocabulary.

How do you talk about the near future in Spanish?

Use ir + a + infinitive: voy a reservar = 'I'm going to book'. Vas a, va a, vamos a, vais a, van a for the other persons.

What does reservar mean?

'To reserve / to book' — a hotel, restaurant, flight: reservar un hotel, reservar una mesa.

Why use yo for emphasis?

Spanish often omits subject pronouns since the verb shows the person. Adding yo emphasises 'I' as the subject: yo reservo = 'I'll do the booking (myself)'.
