Pronunciation
Say VEEL-kuh. The stress lands on the first syllable, and that L is soft, so your tongue touches your teeth, not the roof of your mouth.
Writing and usage
Notice the two Ls in the English but just one л in Russian. The Cyrillic л looks more like an H than the Latin letter L, and the soft sign ь at the end doesn't add a sound on its own.
Example sentence
Дайте мне вилку, пожалуйста.
Give me a fork, please.
